We had a fun Easter weekend. Saturday was spent at Grandma Morgan's house playing with cousins an Easter egg hunt and lots of fun games. Sunday morning we woke up to SNOW! We spent the morning getting ready for church and madly dashing out the door to get to the Easter Egg Hunt which we missed by one minute and therefore missed all of the eggs. (And our mad dash out the door means I missed taking Easter morning pictures too!) When a couple of girls at church noticed our kids visibly upset with their empty baskets they came over with their overflowing baskets and dumped several eggs into each of the empty baskets. My kids were so touched and I was impressed that the girls did it without any prompting from any of the adults. It was great to see. I hope my children would behave in the same way. After church we went to Grammy and Papa's house for a yummy Easter lunch.
As always I loved Easter service and of all the holidays this is the one that is so humbling and leaves me with such a grateful heart. I love this verse from the hymn, How Deep the Father's Love for Us, especially on Easter.
I will not boast in anything: no gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ; his death and resurrection
Why should I gain from his reward? I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart: his wounds have paid my ransom
